Welcome to Esoteric Acupuncture This page is intended to give an introduction to Esoteric Acupuncture; what it is, its effects and how treatments are conducted. Esoteric Acupuncture is a form of acupuncture focused on supporting and assisting our own spiritual and energetic growth. It is primarily intended for those who are in good physical health already and are actively engaged in some type of spiritual, religious or energetic practice. It is also for those who have simply heard about Esoteric Acupuncture and feel drawn to having a treatment. Esoteric Acupuncture uses patterns of points based on the principles of acupuncture, the Qabalah, the chakra system and traditional spiritual and energetic principles and wisdom, to actively assist us in our own growth. Whereas traditional acupuncture focuses on treating the body or the emotions, Esoteric Acupuncture works on a more subtle level to awaken our own inner potentials. Esoteric Acupuncture is still little known. This site aims to provide a resource of information about Esoteric Acupuncture in general and about the purpose & effects of the individual patterns. The reports in the Cases pages will also help to give an idea of the diversity and richness of the effects of these treatments.  Esoteric Acupuncture is a form of acupuncture which utilizes the principles of sacred geometry, the Qabalah and Yoga to assist us in our own spiritual practices and development. Its aim is not that of treating physical illnesses as such but instead to balance us on a deeper level. Esoteric Acupuncture assists us in becoming conscious of and able to live in progressively deeper and more profound spiritual energies or levels of consciousness. The patterns of Esoteric Acupuncture assist and support our own inner work, whatever form this may take. Sessions of Esoteric Acupuncture can be very powerful and feel quite different from a traditional acupuncture treatment.
How to get the best out of your Esoteric Acupuncture Treatments Preparation. Treat it as special Integration. While some changes may be noted by those who do nothing after a treatment, it is more likely that any effects will not be permanent but will simply be overwhelmed by our habitual behaviour patterns. Esoteric Acupuncture does not force anything upon us, it is up to us to integrate and make permanent the energies shown to us in a treatment. It is generally true to say that the results will be more rapidly understood and appreciated by those who use some form of spiritual practice on a regular basis, such as meditation, magical work, qi gung, tai chi, yoga. Meditation practice aids the development of the right-hand brain, accelerating the raising and expansion of consciousness. The kind of meditation referred to here is not so much the techniques used purely for relaxation but rather those that allow one to get in touch with the Higher, more abstract aspects of Mind. Experienced meditators will already have the tools required to find the best way for them to work with the learnings available through the patterns. It is not to say that Esoteric Acupuncture should not be carried out on those that do not meditate. But it is recommended that part of your commitment to Esoteric Acupuncture should be to develop some form of practice to integrate the patterns. Those that do this will simply get more from the patterns themselves and are likely to progress more rapidly, gaining greater knowledge & understanding from their treatments. ‘Anchoring’ is one useful technique that will assist integration of the energetic changes that are initiated during a treatment and is particularly useful for those who are inexperienced in meditation techniques. Anchoring is the asking for assistance from higher 'beings' (however one may perceive them) to help integrate and understand the Esoteric Acupuncture Pattern. Anchoring can be performed during or after a treatment and as many times as one wishes. Hold in your mind the intention of asking for help in integrating the lessons of a particular pattern before imagining a beam of light streaming into the body via the crown chakra and then holding this light frequency within the body, letting it spread out into all of your cells. It is very simple to perform and when performed with intention brings real benefits. The light frequencies of gold, platinum, violet, white & pink are particularly beneficial, but use any color that feels appropriate. It’s advisable to keep an open & flexible mind when working with integration. Patients sometimes report that during their treatment they are shown new ways in which to move energy or new places to focus to find energy centers that they were not previously aware of. These new insights are then available as a personal way of integrating & exploring what the patterns are capable of revealing. How a session of Esoteric Acupuncture is conducted Esoteric Acupuncture differs from traditional acupuncture in that its focus is primarily on healing the spiritual bodies rather than the physical body. It is expected that a person coming for Esoteric Acupuncture is in good general health to begin with. This is often the point at which traditional acupuncture ceases treatment but where Esoteric Acupuncture begins. In common with traditional acupuncture, your first appointment for Esoteric Acupuncture will begin with a talk with your practitioner and a series of questions about your overall health and self. The purpose of this is to give the practitioner a general sense of your current health and to highlight whether it is recommended that you have some standard acupuncture treatment first, before receiving any of the Esoteric Acupuncture patterns. If your practitioner identifies any major physical health imbalances that are likely to interfere with the Esoteric Acupuncture then traditional acupuncture may be recommended. That is not to say that the physical body will not benefit from Esoteric Acupuncture but that sometimes physical health problems can block awareness of the more subtle effects of Esoteric Acupuncture patterns. On your first appointment, after completing the diagnosis your practitioner will help you to chose one of the Harmonizing Patterns that is most appropriate for you. Once all of the needles in a pattern have been inserted, they are usually left in place for around 40 minutes but may be left in for up to an hour or for a shorter time, according to your wishes. Unlike in traditional acupuncture, in Esoteric Acupuncture the needles are inserted very superficially in specific patterns according to the type of energy being worked with.. A feeling of 'de qi' as acupuncturists call the needling sensation, is not sought. Quite a different sensation is felt instead. This can take a variety of forms. Clients have reported feeling a spinning or spiraling sensation around the needle, which can be quite strong but not at all painful. Allow a couple of hours for your Esoteric Acupuncture treatments. For your initial treatment around half of this will be taken up with the diagnosis but as you progress with the patterns then more of this time can be spent actively working with the patterns themselves. The general progression of sessions from Harmonizing to New Encoding Patterns When beginning Esoteric Acupuncture, the initial Harmonizing Patterns are carried out first, as these have a clearing and balancing effect and also help one to prepare for the subsequent treatments involving the Chakra and New Encoding Patterns. They are also an effective and useful way in which to experience the distinctive energy of the Esoteric Acupuncture patterns. The Chakra Patterns are recommended next to awaken and balance the energies, issues and life themes around each of the chakras, allowing one to consciously work with these energies in a very powerful and direct manner. After the Chakra Patterns have been completed and integrated, your practitioner will discuss with you which of the New Encoding Patterns you might wish to explore. It is also often useful or necessary to repeat work on the Chakra Patterns, focusing in on various emotional or energetic imbalances which may be requiring attention before progressing any further. The second time the patterns are done they are often much more subtle and experienced at a deeper level. Any of the patterns can be repeated as often as one wishes without harm. Due to the subtle and profound nature of these patterns, only one pattern is worked with per treatment. It is a personal matter how often treatments are performed. Some people will have a treatment per week while others prefer leaving a longer time between treatments in order to fully integrate the energetic changes. The frequency of treatment may also change as a person progresses through the patterns. The most important point is to choose a pace you genuinely feel happy with. What you can expect on an energetic level during and after a treatment As Esoteric Acupuncture is directly concerned with assisting our own spiritual evolution the effects can be very profound and unusual both during a treatment and afterwards. During a treatment many people are able to sense the spinning of the points contacted by the needles. Many perceive the building of a geometric structure around them or within them. Many report experiences which are highly visual in nature, (with several clients reporting that this is unusual for them to be so visual). Some report observing energy movements in their chakras or central channel. Others report simply 'knowing' and understanding a new perspective. Some individuals have reported being aware of other beings in the room guiding the treatment or assisting their own understanding of the Pattern. It is sometimes the case that people find it difficult to stay awake during the treatment but it is better if you can experience the energetic changes taking place consciously. Some changes will still occur even if you do fall asleep but the benefits of a treatment will be much greater if you can stay awake and consciously work with the energy of the pattern. Part of the reason for sleepiness is that the energies of the pattern are moving beyond what you are consciously used to experiencing. As you become more used to the energy of the patterns then you will find that you experience this sleepiness less often. The effects following a treatment vary from individual to individual and depend upon what inner work a person regularly performs. Generally speaking, people report that things in life which previously were 'issues' or 'blocks' are either resolved or much reduced in their effect. Others report new perspectives in their meditation or magical work. Such things can sound small but in practice make huge differences to our lives and the way we approach the world. Some people have experienced profound levels of insight and the awakening of psychic powers. Others have simply felt safe and protected in times of trouble. One aspect which is often reported is that the effects of treatment often ripple out into one's life and the theme of the pattern will commonly be reflected back at you by events in your life and changes within yourself. This synchronicity is something very commonly experienced with Esoteric Acupuncture, on many levels. These are commonly reported experiences from people having the Patterns but it is difficult to say exactly what to expect from any Esoteric Acupuncture treatment. As each of us is so different we react to, absorb & work with the energies in different ways. It would be unwise to attempt to predict what the effects might be for each individual as experiences & outcomes may vary widely from person to person. This idea of people responding differently to the same treatment is not new. In traditional acupuncture treatment the acupuncture points used are deemed to have many functions and the outcome of their use can vary widely. It is important to remember that Esoteric Acupuncture doesn't do the work for us. Dramatic effects during and following the patterns are usually based on a considerable amount of prior inner work. Esoteric Acupuncture can open many doors for us and show us new insights but it still for us to walk through those doors and to integrate these insights into our daily lives. Depending on a client’s overall state of physical, emotional & mental health it may be necessary to work with some of the basic Harmonizing Patterns before proceeding to the Chakra Alignment patterns. The Harmonizing Patterns provide a very good introduction to Esoteric Acupuncture; how it feels, how it is conducted and how it differs from traditional acupuncture. The Harmonizing Patterns are powerful treatments of preparation, bringing us into a state of readiness for the Chakra and New Encoding Patterns. Not all of the Harmonizing Patterns will be needed by each client; it is more usual to have just one or two prior to the Chakra Alignment Patterns. They can be repeated as often as one wishes. Clarity Pattern. Posterior Qi Flow Pattern. Anterior Qi Flow Pattern. Heart Balancing Yin Pattern. The seven Chakra Alignment Patterns are designed to activate & harmonize the physical body chakras, allowing us to access the wealth of information & experiences stored within them. These patterns are recommended to ensure that the chakras are cleansed, strengthened & balanced to provide a firm foundation before one proceeds to the more advanced New Encoding Patterns. Together, they form a body of patterns which benefit from repeated treatments and meditation. The outcome of the Chakra Patterns will vary considerably from client to client, depending on where each individual is on their own path of development. Those clients who already do their own inner work on a regular basis will generally be able to gain much more from these patterns. However, the Chakra Alignment Patterns are also very beneficial as an introduction to the energies and issues relevant to each of the chakras. What we get out of these patterns is very dependent on what we have put in, in terms of inner work (whether in this life or another), and they can be experienced on many different levels as a result. Always though, the experiences are healthy, balanced and beneficial. What follows is a summary of some of the key associations of each of the seven major chakras Base Chakra Sacral Chakra. Brow Chakra Here is where we find our ability to learn from experience whilst being open to the ideas of others; where we become consciously aware of & are able to evaluate & change our beliefs & attitudes. It is the seat of our emotional intelligence. Crown Chakra 'Needling the New Encoding Patterns will elevate our consciousness to a level we may not have known existed and these changes will come about at an accelerated rate' - M Sankey. The New Encoding Patterns are ultimately aimed at raising an individual's level of consciousness. The New Encoding Patterns work on a number of levels. They assist in shifting negative vibrations within our energetic bodies. In releasing our attachment to these negative frequencies, they can greatly assist in our abilities to heal ourselves & others, whilst strengthening our connection to our purpose. The patterns also provide a structure that enables the stepping down of higher frequencies into our physical & energetic fields. Whilst these frequencies are very subtle, they have the potential to initiate very powerful changes; the capability to unlock powerful information centers within us. However, just having the needles inserted will not automatically bring about these changes. It is up to each individual to determine how they work with the energy & information received. Those clients who spend time anchoring & integrating these new frequencies through meditation are likely to progress most quickly. In contrast to the Chakra Patterns which revolve around energy which is intimately connected with the physical body, the New Encoding Patterns are decidedly non-physical in their nature. The New Encoding Patterns have as their focus the energy of Mind (as in Consciousness), rather than resolving issues reflected in the body. This means that they can feel rather abstract compared to the Chakra Patterns which have a physical base in the body. To make the best use of their potential, one should be familiar and at ease dealing with being in sometimes quite different states of consciousness. It is also important to be clear about why you wish to work with a particular pattern. Each of the New Encoding Patterns is capable of releasing a tremendous amount of energy and information. It is important to be realistic about one's readiness to work with energy of this type. The consequence of working with the New Encoding Patterns before one is ready is at best pointless because it is likely that nothing will be felt, or at worst quite disorientating, as one is not able to integrate the learning being offered. On the other hand, when one is ready the patterns can lead to experiences and learning of a most profound nature. As a general rule, we gain the most from these New Encoding Patterns after harmonizing some of our more basic issues through the use of the Chakra Patterns. The New Encoding Patterns can be repeated as many times as one wishes and this is helpful, especially if one wishes to use a New Encoding Pattern to work with a particular style or type of consciousness or to help one grow and evolve towards a specific goal. It is hoped that with the right intention & commitment, these patterns will enable individuals to access knowledge that lies dormant within them; knowledge that will allow them to expand their consciousness at an accelerated rate. The 'Patterns' used in
Esoteric Acupuncture may well be new, in that they draw upon
the principles of Qabalistic and Yogic traditions, which are
not normally associated with acupuncture. However, while the
form may be new, the intention behind this form is as old as
humanity; to assist us in becoming more conscious of Divinity,
both within and without. While Esoteric Acupuncture will not
do our inner work for us, it is one of the most supportive and
encouraging methods we have come across in our own personal
energetic and spiritual endeavors. This pattern assists in opening & activating the crown chakra. It also installs the encoding for the ascension chakra. It is much stronger than the crown Chakra Alignment pattern. Needling this pattern will not in itself open the crown chakra or ascension chakra, it will simply install the appropriate frequencies with which the client may then chose to work to accelerate development of these chakras. During the treatment the client will be required to engage with the pattern to bring in light and to be alert to any energetic changes & information made available. It must be stressed that meditation practice will be key in enabling the client to access, understand & integrate the knowledge that is available through this pattern. This pattern works with the finer frequencies of the throat chakra. It assists us to move towards expressing our truth in a manner that will be well received; that will not provoke an attacking response. It also helps us to recognizing the reasons for & consequences of not speaking our truth. It is recommended for those who have trouble expressing themselves, or who find themselves under verbal attack from which they have difficulty defending themselves. The pattern is based on the Qabbalistic Tree of Life, with each of the points needled corresponding to one of the ten sephiroth. For those more experienced meditators this pattern will assist in building the thread of creative activity of the antahkarana This pattern installs the finer frequencies of the solar plexus chakra, which help us to be truthful about ourselves & our relationship to others and to understand the nature of truth. The issue here is one of being truthful with ourselves, rather than one of communicating our truths to others. The latter issue is addressed by the Inward Spiral Pattern. However, these two patterns and issues are strongly linked. The pattern sets up a ‘frequency of accountability’ which strongly encourages us to acknowledge & deal with all of our issues. Facing the truth about ourselves usually entails having to consciously face our shadow side. In doing so we are able to recognize & embrace all aspects of our being, releasing the shadow’s power over us & enabling us to move forward whilst embracing all aspect of our selves. The pattern is especially beneficial to those who find themselves in similar situations time & time again, unable to break their life-patterns, where they make the same mistake over & over again. Once the energies of this pattern are fully integrated, an individual will no longer be able to do things that are harmful to themselves, to others or to the environment. This pattern is associated with the energy of the kidneys, which in Chinese Medicine are related to the emotion of fear & the element water. It is a useful pattern for those who are troubled by excessive fear, or feel that they are perhaps holding onto an old unnamed fear, from this or another lifetime. The energy of fear is more dense than that of love or joy. The analogy of alchemy is used for this pattern as it encapsulates the idea of transmuting this heavy energy into the lighter finer frequencies of love & joy. In addition, the pattern will address more subtle levels of imbalance in the sacral chakra than those addressed through the Chakra Alignment pattern. It will also strengthen the energy of the kidney system and of one’s physical foundation. This pattern installs the energies of the expanded Heart Chakra region. An additional strength of this pattern is to activate and work with the energies of the person being needled to help bring forth that person's own Merkabah (see below for definition of Merkabah). This pattern helps bring about awareness to the existence of the inner Merkabah. Merkabah: The Divine light vehicle used by the Masters to circulate and disseminate information and reach the initiates and other High-Level Beings on this journey of knowledge in the many dimensions of the Divine Mind. It is also known as a time-space vehicle.
