Chronic Prostatis
Medical expert Dr.Stepen N.
Rous in "The Prostate Book" notes: "This
small gland at the base of the bladder causes more grief for men than
just about any other structure of their bodies, and difficulties with it
can cover almost the entire adult life of a man".
One of the major prostate gland problems facing men today—chronic prostatitis, or inflammation of the prostate—affects millions of Americans. It is usually silent until the prostate has enlarged sufficiently to cause symptoms.
Chronic prostatitis is one of the most common causes of recurrent urinary tract infection in men. To understand this condition better, one can view the prostate as a sponge with many small spaces. Infected and irritating prostatic fluid remains in millions of tiny microscopic sacs and ducts. Once microorganisms get into the gland and can "hide" in all those spaces, it can be difficult to get rid of infection.
Symptoms of chronic prostatitis include variations of the following:
Discomfort and pain: chronic prostatitis has a broad spectrum of symptoms from very mild discomfort to debilitating pain in the groin, testicles, the area between the scrotum and the anus, and the lower abdomen or lower back and sacrum area. A common description of the sensation a man has with this condition is that he feels like he is sitting on golf ball.
Urination problems: common symptoms include frequent, painful, difficult, or interrupted urination with a sensation of burning. A person suffering from chronic prostatitis may have the urge to urinate hourly, a problem particularly bothersome at night.
Sexual dysfunctions: pain or discomfort during or after sex. chronic prostatitis can cause premature or painful ejaculation, loss of sex drive (libido), impotence, and infertility.
Stress often as a result of chronic prostatitis. Many men suffer from hyper-anxious behavior, depression, anger, relational disharmony, childless marriages, and even the break-up of relationships.
Chronic Prostatitis may be dormant for many years and then flare up for various reasons, including a sedentary lifestyle and long periods of sitting, chronic urinary tract infections, parasites, overgrowth of Candida-yeast after antibiotics or hormone (prednisone) treatments, low immunity, nutrient deficiencies (zinc, EFA, vitamins), and STD’s such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis, or other prostate infections from commonly-present flora of the rectum or vagina.
The usual treatment for prostate gland inflammation with antibiotic therapy is difficult, because of the poor diffusion of most antibiotics into the prostatic fluid. Infected and irritating fluid remains in millions of tiny microscopic sacs and ducts.
In China, Russia, Germany, France, Israel, the Philippines, and elsewhere, an alternative non-drug approach to the healing of chronic prostatitis has been coexisting successfully with Western-style medicine. This kind of comprehensive approach is now also becoming more widely available in the United States. Please read this.
At Healing Light Holisctic Center we offer a special healing program which consists of combining Herbal Medicine, Nutritional Supplementation, Whole Body Cleansing with Restoration of Friendly Intestinal Flora, Acupuncture in its needle and non-needle variants, and guided imagery (hypnoimagery), special healing exercises and more.
Herbs from Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Americas can be valuable assets in the assault on chronic prostatitis. The anti-microbial, anti-fungal, anti-parasitic properties of herbs have been proven over hundreds of years. Herbal therapy can decrease swelling and shrink the prostate, as well as improve urine flow, sexual function, and libido. Herbs can also provide men with an effective way to deal with stress and depression, and add more energy to make the whole body healthier.
